At Texas Ruff House, we’re all about giving your dogs the best experiences. Whether that’s through daily walks, adventure-packed field trips, or helping them stay happy and active while you’re away, our goal is to ensure they have fun! One of our favorite activities is checking out the best dog-friendly parks in Georgetown, Texas.
Not all parks are created equal regarding dog-friendliness. We are selective about where we take our pups. Key factors include wide trails, ample shade, and safe walking areas. As we've mentioned before, we do not recommend dog parks (here’s why).
So, if you’re looking for an adventure with your pup (without the stress of an off-leash free-for-all), here are some of our favorite Georgetown parks!

Berry Springs Park and Preserve
📍 1801 County Rd 152, Georgetown, TX 78626
Berry Springs Park and Preserve is a hidden gem perfect for a peaceful, scenic walk with your pup. The park features lovely trails, open fields, and even a pond where your dog can explore new scents.
Why We Love It:
Spacious walking trails
Plenty of shade for hot days
Picnic areas if you want to make a day of it
Leash Tip: We always recommend using a sturdy standard leash, not a retractable one. (Here’s why we avoid retractables!)

San Gabriel Park
📍 445 E Morrow St, Georgetown, TX 78626
A local favorite, San Gabriel Park has everything you could want in a dog-friendly space. It boasts vast open green areas, paved trails, and easy river access. The San Gabriel River Trail runs through the park, offering a beautiful and relaxing walk along the water.
Why We Love It:
Ample space to explore
Water access for pups who love to splash
Paved trails for easy walking
Blue Hole Park
📍 100 Blue Hole Park, Georgetown, TX 78626
A must-visit for nature-loving dogs! Blue Hole Park features stunning limestone bluffs and a peaceful section of the San Gabriel River. It’s an excellent spot to walk, take in the views, and let your pup enjoy the fresh air.
Why We Love It:
Gorgeous scenery for an Instagram-worthy walk
Shady spots to rest
Calm water areas for cautious pups to explore
Safety Tip: Even though your dog may love water, always keep them on a leash near the river (and anywhere else in the park). There can be currents, slippery rocks, and unexpected deep areas.

Tips for a Safe & Fun Park Adventure in Georgetown
Before you head out on your next park adventure, here are a few essential things to keep in mind:
Stay Hydrated
Always bring water for yourself and your pup. The Texas heat can be intense!
Leash Policy
Keep your dog leashed at all times. This ensures safety for both your pup and others enjoying the park.
Wildlife Awareness
Be vigilant for wildlife. Georgetown parks host deer, snakes, and other critters that your pup may find interesting.
Cleanliness Matters
Make sure to clean up after your pup. Let’s keep our parks beautiful for everyone!
And of course, if you ever need assistance with dog walks or adventure outings, Texas Ruff House has you covered! Whether it’s a field trip to one of these amazing parks or just a mid-day walk while you’re at work, we’re here to help.
Conclusion
Exploring Georgetown's parks with your dog can be a delightful experience. Each park offers unique features and an opportunity to enjoy nature together. Remember to prioritize safety and share these beautiful spaces with other park-goers.
Happy exploring!
